Jillican

Jillican rebuilds Gill Sans on an octagonal framework. It retains the familiar humanist proportions and British rhythm, then hardens them with boxier curves, clipped corners, and angular joints. The result has the recognizability of a British sans-serif but a cooler, more regimented character, with echoes of UK new wave and post-punk graphics.

The core family provides six weights with matching italics, allowing the same structure to carry both assertive display lines and orderly supporting information. In food branding, Jillican can organize savoury snack ranges, condiment lines, frozen-food packaging, restaurant groups, and food-hall graphics. Its weights can distinguish flavour names, menu categories, promotional copy, and product hierarchies without losing the identity’s harder edge.

The same disciplined tone suits football season identities, kit launches, stadium graphics, and sports broadcast packages. It can also support political-thriller titles, fictional government or faction graphics, strategy-game campaigns, and utility-fashion or technical-footwear launches.

Three display styles push the design into more militant territory. Jillican War introduces segmented stencil cuts while preserving the relatively light construction of the original. Jillican Warpaint adds irregular painted edges and thin drips, resembling lettering applied through a physical stencil. Jillican War 3D converts those stencil forms into dimensional lettering for campaign titles, pack fronts, team graphics, faction insignia, and large retail displays. Together, the styles provide several levels of intensity while maintaining the same octagonal Gill Sans foundation.
